About Joanna

I was introduced to various dance and movement disciplines whilst training to be an actress, but struggling with lower back issues made it difficult to progress. I began exploring some of the more gentle disciplines: Alexander Technique, Ashtanga Yoga (which was not so gentle) and last, but not least, Pilates.

The uncomplicated effectiveness of Pilates is where I began to feel and see real change in my body and pain relief. Working with connecting to the breath forced me to ‘control movement’  and to take responsibility for any muscle and alignmentimbalances. Joseph Pilates liked to quote Schiller

“It is the mind itself which builds the body”

I trained to become a teacher with Body Control Pilates, the largest professional Pilates Organisation outside the UK, and, as my goals and interests expanded I trained to become a Personal Trainer.  In an industry where new information is emerging every day I try to keep learning about Nutrition, Training for muscle gain & fat loss, and how to train with injuries. I am the first Pilates Teacher to be awarded  the Level 4 REPS Master Trainer and Low Back Pain Specialist qualification.
